Description

Crane Fluid Systems Actuators

Intelligent Electric Actuators for HVAC, Hydronic Balancing & Valve Automation

Crane Fluid Systems offers a comprehensive range of electric actuators designed to automate control valves, pressure independent control valves (PICVs), butterfly valves, and other HVAC flow control equipment. Engineered for modern building services, the Crane actuator portfolio provides precise valve positioning, energy-efficient operation, and seamless integration with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS). The range includes modulating, 3-point, thermic, Modbus, smart, and quarter-turn actuators to suit virtually every HVAC control application.

Product Range

Modulating Actuators

Crane modulating actuators deliver precise proportional control for 2-port, 3-port, and pressure independent control valves. Supporting 0–10 V, 2–10 V, and 4–20 mA control signals, these actuators continuously adjust valve position to maintain accurate temperature, pressure, and flow control. Models such as ACT991M, ACT993, and ACT996incorporate advanced stroke calibration and gap detection technology for simplified commissioning and improved control accuracy.

Feedback & Fail-Safe Actuators

The ACTD995FB provides proportional control with integrated position feedback, allowing BMS systems to verify actual valve position. The ACTD995FS incorporates a fail-safe mechanism that automatically moves the valve to a predefined safe position during power loss, protecting HVAC equipment and improving system reliability.

Thermic Actuators

Compact ACT991TH thermic actuators are designed for ON/OFF control where installation space is limited. Their lightweight construction and quiet operation make them ideal for fan coil units, underfloor heating manifolds, and zone control applications.

3-Point Actuators

The ACT991TP floating (3-point) actuator provides incremental valve positioning without requiring analog control signals. It is suitable for conventional HVAC control systems where precise modulation is required using open/close commands.

Modbus Smart Actuators

The ACTMDBUS intelligent actuator communicates directly through the Modbus protocol, enabling remote commissioning, valve monitoring, flow indication, and diagnostics. It forms part of Crane’s Connected Solutions platform for smart building applications.

Quarter-Turn Actuators

The ECQ Series rotary electric actuators automate butterfly valves and other quarter-turn valves. Available in ON/OFF and modulating versions, the ECQ series offers torque ratings from 50 Nm to 6000 Nm, IP67 enclosure protection, manual override, and support for analog feedback signals.

Benefits

Energy-Efficient HVAC Control

By continuously adjusting valve position according to building demand, Crane actuators improve hydronic balancing, stabilize room temperatures, and reduce unnecessary energy consumption in chilled water and heating systems.

Simplified Commissioning

Gap Detection technology automatically matches actuator travel to the valve stroke, reducing manual adjustment during installation and improving control accuracy across the full operating range.

Reliable Operation

Integrated diagnostics, position feedback, thermal protection, and fail-safe options enhance system reliability while reducing maintenance requirements and downtime.

Smart Building Integration

Modbus-enabled actuators support remote commissioning, flow monitoring, valve status reporting, and predictive maintenance, making them suitable for modern digital building management platforms.
